Employee Spotlight-Nicole Taylor, Director of TFC/Adoption-South

Tell us a little about yourself?

I am from a little town called Ville Platte, Louisiana. I am married with two children, and my greatest joy is spending time with my family. I love reading, cooking, and spending time outside working in my yard or just sitting on my porch. I value time with my family and try to visit as often as possible.

When did you start working for Southern Christian Services?

I started my employment with Southern Christian Services a year ago this month; although I have had the pleasure of working with SCSCY for many years while employed with the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services.

I worked in the field of child welfare for 9 years and feel very passionate about the work I do. SCSCY is an agency that truly supports and cares about children in care and the foster/adoptive families that open their hearts and homes to us. I felt very honored to become a part of that and have learned a great deal.

What is your day-to-day look like at SCSCY?

On a day-to-day basis, I license and train prospective foster families, provide supervision and leadership to my team, ensure current family’s licensing standards are met, maintain 24-hour availability to my team for case and crisis management, provide availability for ongoing training to foster parents, ensure MDCPS and MDMH licensing standards are met, and review and discuss family fitness regarding placement of therapeutic children in care. I would love to say I do this on my own, but that would be far from the truth. I have been blessed with an amazing team that over the past year has shown me what true dedication, compassion, and commitment looks like. They go above and beyond to support the children and families we serve.

What is your favorite part about working for SCSCY?

It’s really hard to narrow down a single thing, when I think about my favorite part of SCSCY. I would have to say it’s the touching moments you get here and there; the things that make your eyes water. The extra mile a family may go to help a child feel like part of their family, or seeing a child get adopted after a long period of time. These are the moments that make my heart smile!
