Updated: Sep 14, 2020

Meet Jill Brown, Division Director of Therapeutic Foster Care and Adoption. Jill began working for Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth, Inc. this past January. Jill is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Board Qualified Supervisor and brings more than 15 years of clinical and foster care experience to Southern Christian's leadership team. She is responsible for ensuring ethical practices, licensing standard compliance, professional supervision, and evidence-based practice implementation in all therapeutic foster care programs.

Jill is from Clinton, Mississippi. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1998, went on to Hinds Community College, and then on to the University of Southern Mississippi for a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She later went to Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas for her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health/Community Counseling.

Jill enjoys spending time with her husband, Anthony and 2 children, Emmett who is 9, and Taylor who is 2. In her free time, she likes to run and enjoys fitness. She also likes going out on the boat, water skiing, and swimming.

On a day-to-day basis, Jill helps with licensing resource parents, (home studies, help gather needed documentation), consult and advise staff on policies and procedures, give consultation on a crisis situation, brainstorm and problem solve interventions with staff for youth in our care, provide reports for CPS on our homes and youth in care, and interact with the other leaders at the agency, etc. Jill is trained in the RATAC protocol, a CornerHouse Forensic Interview Protocol for suspected victims of child abuse used in forensic interviewing, and is a certified trainer for CPR/First Aid and responsible for helping certify and recertify SCSCY staff. Jill states, “I work for SCS because they are well known in the community for good ethical practice, values, and standards. SCS is a Christian based organization and that’s what I also stand for. It’s nice working for an organization with the same values that you possess.”

Jill’s favorite part about Southern Christian Services is working with the staff, peers, and leaders who are all on the same page, with the same goal in mind. When asked about her outlook on life she states, “It’s so important to me to live in the now, in the present moment, and to enjoy everything that God has put in my path. I like to try to find the silver lining to every dark cloud and know that perspective is everything! “
