Position Summary

Southern Christian Services for Children and Youth, Inc. (SCSCY) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director to lead and oversee our Foster Care Services Program in Central MS. This role provides administrative leadership, staff supervision, and program coordination to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards while delivering high-quality services to children and families.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall administrative and supervisory leadership for the Foster Care Services program in compliance with:

    • Department of Mental Health (DMH) standards

    • Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) licensing requirements

    • Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) standards

    • SCSCY policies and all applicable regulations

  • Assign and manage:

    • Staff caseloads

    • Child placements

    • Home studies

    • Staff trainings

    • Recruitment initiatives

  • Supervise and support Family Specialists and program staff, including:

    • Hiring, onboarding, and training

    • Performance management

    • Fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with MDCPS to ensure effective coordination of services

  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract, train, and retain foster/adoptive families

  • Monitor placement stability and duration to ensure children are placed appropriately and caseloads remain balanced

  • Ensure timely completion of home studies by:

    • Assigning to staff

    • Completing as needed

    • Utilizing contract resources when appropriate

  • Maintain full and balanced caseloads through effective assignment and program oversight

  • Oversee and coordinate monthly PATH (Parents as Tender Healers) trainings

  • Maintain accurate program data, statistics, and billing records; submit reports monthly

  • Represent SCSCY professionally in the community and with stakeholders

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, License required.

  • One year of supervisory experience in child welfare, foster care, or adoption services preferred

  • Knowledge of DMH, MDCPS, and licensing standards strongly preferred

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
