Employee Spotlight-Joy Bratcher

Meet Joy Bratcher. Joy is currently our Therapeutic Foster Care and Adoption Coordinator at Southern Christian Services (SCS) in the Jackson location. Joy is originally from Tupelo, Mississippi. She grew up in Tupelo until married but still keeps in touch with family and friends from that area. Joy moved several times due to her husband’s employer and has enjoyed each move. Joy has lived in the Jackson area for a little over thirteen years. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and attending church. Joy has been a part of SCS for over seven years. She initially started as a part-time employee and then moved into a full-time position.

While at SCS, she worked with the post-adoption program (now known as the Adoption Permanency Division). Then moved into the Therapeutic Foster Care and Adoption Program where she has been for the majority of her employment as the coordinator for the department.

Joy says, “I enjoy my job tremendously. I enjoy being a part of the foster care /adoption process by assisting potential foster/adoptive parents with the licensing process. There is nothing more rewarding than being a part of seeing the process through from the beginning to the end. The reward is always worth the effort. I am proud to not only work for SCS for the differences that we strive to make daily, but in our organization the employees are truly family. We all care for one another and the children and families that we serve.”

Two quotes that Joy would like to share and uses in her day to day life are, “Amazing things happen when we step out in faith.” – Joyce Meyer, and “To make a difference in someone’s life you don’t have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful or perfect. You just have to care.” – Mandy Hale
