Spotlight on Camille in our P.A.L.S. Program

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

What are some of your accomplishments?

Since being in P.A.L.S., I have received a GED, my drivers license, graduated from Refill Cafe in Jackson, and have a better connection with my family. I have had a lot of personal growth for myself. I am making better choices and I feel like I am growing in confidence. In the past, I would always think about the people in my life who told me I couldn’t do it. I would focus on that one negative person. Now, I focus on the 10 people who support me and care for me. Sometimes it can be challenging, but it makes me feel better and to know I am not alone. I know everyone’s circumstances are different, I know I’ve been through a lot but I’ve really had to switch the way I think so that I can focus on the 10 people who love and support me.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

I would like to work and eventually go to college so that I can do something that I am interested in. For school, I want to major in psychology, to study human behavior. I could see myself having a degree in that. I want to work in an environment where I am around people.

What advice would you give to future P.A.L.S. clients?

To not give up. To push through, because it’s so easy to give up, especially when people are doubting you. You know when someone truly cares for you or not.
